Net income for the year increased to R$577.1 million representing a 40.2% increase from 1999. The net income amount includes a gain of R$132 million from the sale of minority interests in our satellite subsidiary, Star One. Excluding the benefit of the gain from the partial sale of Star One, our net income would have been R$444.9 million, an increase of 8.1% from 1999.
