The Rio de Janeiro gas distribution company [Companhia Disitribuidora de Gás do Rio de Janeiro -CEG] is the biggest piped gas company in Brazil, with a distribution network of 1,350 miles [2,246 kilometers], 561,000 household, 9,000 commercial and 370 major industrial customers. It operates as CEG in the metropolitan area of the Rio de Janeiro state capital and in the interior as CEG-Rio. Controlled by Gas Natural SDG of Barcelona, Spain, the company makes a lot of long distance calls every month to communicate with the Spanish head office and other concessionaire countries. CEG joined the Call DDI 21 promotion to save on international phone calls. "We organized a bid and chose Embratel because it is the company with the widest range of services in the market", says José Luís Beltrão Koenow, head of the CEG telecommunications service. "Our multinational structure includes commercial, strategic and organizational contacts with Spain and other concessionaires of the group in Mexico, Colombia and Argentina. We also address technical matters with other European countries and the United States. Our assessment took into account not only costs but also - and principally - the quality of the services provided, which is vital for CEG, since we must have no communication problems whatsoever."
Significant reductions
Three months after having joined Call DDI 21, CEG now has significant reductions in its international phone bills. "In three months we had 7% less in monthly bills. Call DDI 21 gives us the best offer on the market with discounts for volume, flexibility and other interesting suggestions. We will be able to reach up to 15% in discounts on DDI calls. With some internal training and more Embratel services, we intend to achieve around 47% less voice flow ", Beltrão assures us. "We are very pleased," stresses Beltrão. "When we need support, Embratel is always there to help us."
