Business Dial grows with Wi-Fi remote access

The modern Wi-Fi (Wireless Fidelity) technology, successfully implemented in a number of countries, is now also available for Embratel corporate customers. The offer, permitting remote wireless and high-speed access to Internet, is the start of a process of innovating the current Embratel Business Dial service.

With the new service, the executive who travels regularly with Brazil and abroad may use a dialed connection, or wireless broadband, to have top quality Internet access. Customers can easily choose which is most convenient, depending on where they are.
For access to the service, the user just needs a portable computer (palmtop, notebook or handheld) fitted with a device compatible with Wi-Fi technology, known technically as IEEE 802.11b.

Vex Partnership

National Wi-Fi access is provided by Embratel in its partnership with Vex, which maintains WLAN (wireless local are network) at the main Brazilian airports, hotels and cafés. "Today we have an infrastructure of around a hundred hot spots already installed, and we would like to have five hundred by the end of 2004. The partnership with Embratel reinforces the expansion strategy of our network", says Vex CEO Roberto Ugolini Neto.

Business Dial customers abroad can also access internet by phone or Wi-Fi, through Embratel partnerships  with carriers MCI, iPass and Gric in over 150 countries. The service attends any size of company that needs a mobile solution for its sales force or executives.
